The Mary Webb Society

2017 will beĀ  another special year for the society as we celebrate the centenary of both Gone to Earth and The Spring of Joy.These will be the themes for our events during the year.

In addition to our usual planned events, there will be additional events in another special year for the society. We have been approached by the following organisations to contribute to their planned events:

Stiperstones and Snailbeach Villages “Beach Party” event July 8th

Shrewsbury Railway Heritage Trust will be holding an event on Saturday 6th August to focus on the film of Gone to Earth based at Abbey Station, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury. This event will appeal to railway enthusuasts as well as Mary Webb devotees.

The Railway Trust will be collaborating with The County of Salop Steam Engine Society to commemorate Gone to Earth as part of their annual steam rally at Onslow Park on 27th & 28th August, bank holiday weekend. This promises to be a fun-filled weekend with a county fair atmosphere and to include the original traction engine from the film and other period vehicles.
