Summer School, our main event of the year will take place at The Mascall Centre, Lower Galdeford, Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 1RZ. There will also be an evening concert at St Laurence’s church, Ludlow. Ludlow is a beautiful historic market town in South Shropshire with plenty to offer visitors including its medieval castle, pretty half-timbered buildings and the tranquil river Teme.

We are really getting excited about this event with such a varied and interesting programme and a wonderful evening concert.
Dr Gladys Mary Coles will be speaking on “Mary Webb and Music”
Our guest speaker will be Professor Deborah Wynne who will present “Literary Textiles with Reference to the work of Mary Webb”
Our evening concert, The Joy of Music to celebrate the Shropshire landscape on the weekend of the summer equinox will be held in the magnificent historic church of St Laurence in the heart of Ludlow. The concert will feature an evening of pastoral music from Vintner, Stanford, Finzi, Berkeley, Schumann and Beethoven interspersed with readings from the works of Mary Webb.
The programme will be performed by eminent musicians; Robin Rubenstein, piano, Mark Lacey, clarinet and Rob Northcott, musician & composer who will be performing a new composition,”Green Pulse” a soundscape inspired by the Shropshire landscape so beloved of Mary Webb.
Robin Rubenstein has performed as solo pianist and chamber musician throughout England and the U.S. She taught at The Royal Academy and Royal College of Music.
Mark Lacey has performed regularly with many of the U.K.’s leading opera companies including English National Opera, Welsh National Opera and English Touring opera.
Rob Northcott is a classically trained musician, composer, orchestrator and performer specialising in neo-classical concert works. He has a diverse musical background and can compose in a wide variety of musical genres.
