The Mary Webb bust is progressing through the many stages of production from clay maquette to finished bronze. Committee members witnessed the very dramatic pouring of molten bronze into the investment mould. After cooling, the investment is chipped away to reveal the bronze. There is still a lot of work involved in cleaning up the bronze and applying the patina. Many thanks to Chris Richards and staff at Castle Fine Arts Foundry,Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant for explaining the intricate and skilled work involved. Jemma Pearson has been closely involved at each stage in seeing her wonderful creation through to completion.
Will and Lottie O’Leary, stonemasons are now preparing the ground in front of Shrewsbury library for the base and column to support the bust. Will O’Leary has the task of carving the lettering on site so that all will ready for the grand unveiling on Saturday 9th July at 11.00am.
